Our Hiring Process

At R1, we are committed to hiring the best and brightest talent. Our hiring process is intentionally extensive as we only hire individuals who we feel are a good fit culturally and professionally and have a desire to engage in a long term career with us. Our multi-step hiring process can take anywhere from 4-8 weeks to complete and can potentially involve a combination of online assessments, as well as phone and onsite interviews with our recruitment team and hiring managers.

Candidates must successfully complete each phase to advance through the hiring process.

  • Once you have found the role you are interested in applying for, you will need to complete an application, including a resume submission and completion of qualifying questions via your candidate profile.
  • Once your submission is received, you will receive an email notification confirming the receipt of your application for the specific role.
  • For some of our positions, you will be required to complete one or two on-line assessments which will help us assess your specific skill and traits for the roles in which you are applying. Be sure to check your spam and/or junk email folders as some of our emails may be there too!
  • A recruiter will be notified of your application and assessment scores (if applicable) and reviews your profile and submission.
  • Should your background and experience match our hiring needs, a Talent Acquisition team member will contact you to schedule a phone interview.
  • If you are qualified for the position you applied for, one of our Talent Acquisition recruiters will conduct either a phone or web-based interview with you.
  • We use behavioral-based interviews to get to know you – the real you. We will ask questions about work history, top skills and your experience. We also want to learn what makes you stick? What have you accomplished so far? To do this we’ll ask questions about previous accomplishments or how you’ve handled situations in the past. This is also your opportunity to find out about us. We believe two-way communication starts from day one, so ask away.
  • After the interview with our recruiter, we will consult with the hiring manager to determine if they would like to pursue you as a candidate.
  • If so, a Talent Acquisition team member will be in touch to schedule the interviews.
  • The interviews could be a series of phone interviews, virtual/Skype based interviews or onsite, depending on the role and your location. The number of interviews we conduct will depend on whether or not we elect to continue the hiring process with you or move on with other candidates.
  • Once a hiring decision is made, and you are the chosen candidate, you will receive a verbal offer from one of our Talent Acquisition team members along with an offer letter that must be signed and accepted in your on-line candidate profile.
  • All offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
  • Once you have accepted the offer, our Onboarding team will send you all of the required paperwork, which will need to be completed within 48 hours.
  • Upon completion of your paperwork you will be asked to take a drug screen and a criminal and educational background check will be run. Typically this part of the process can take 2-3 weeks.
  • Once the onboarding process is complete and you are approved to start, we will confirm your start date. We recommend you do not give your current employer notice until we’ve confirmed that your background and drug screen are complete and we’ve offered you a firm start date.
